Overview
The year 2024 marks the first edition of the International Festival of Culture and Traditions Lira Tracă și Taraful lui Orfeu in Polovragi, built as a public platform for musical heritage, crafts, and cultural tourism.
The programme combined historical reconstruction, workshops, exhibitions, oina, local gastronomy, and international guests, with the explicit goal of turning Polovragi into an annual landmark and a more visible tourism destination.

First edition of Lira Tracă și Taraful lui Orfeu
The International Festival of Culture and Traditions "Lira Traca si Taraful lui Orfeu" in Polovragi was conceived as a broad framework for traditional Thracian music, cobza, crafts, local products, and cultural activations capable of linking heritage with the local economy and the tourism visibility of the region. The festival aimed to become an annual landmark on the international cultural calendar, highlighting the Thracian cultural heritage and the beauty of the Polovragi region. Its main objective is the revitalization and promotion of old traditional music, especially music performed on the cobza, as well as transforming Polovragi into an attractive tourist destination on a global level. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a series of diverse cultural and artistic activities. These include: * A Historical Reconstruction Camp with demonstrations of ancient crafts and ancestral customs + tastings from Tinutul Romanati. * A Local Producers' Market for BIO agri-food products. * Workshops and demonstrations led by living human treasures and craftspeople. * A demonstration OINA match + introductory workshop - competition for the public. * A chainsaw sculpture demonstration - with Mr. Bostanica. * A cobza exhibition. * An exhibition of statues from the Polovragi Sculpture Camp.
